Hanger Storage & Logistics Supports Banbury RFC’s Women & Girls’ Growth Initiative

This case study highlights how Hanger Storage & Logistics (HS&L) leveraged its core capabilities and community commitment to enable a crucial development project at Banbury Rugby Football Club (BRUFC), directly supporting the growth of women’s and girls’ rugby.

The Partnership Opportunity

The Challenge

Banbury RFC, a club experiencing exponential growth in its women’s and girls’ sections, needed funds to upgrade its facilities to meet the specific requirements of its female players. The club had a unique opportunity to ‘earn’ these funds by providing volunteers for the Women’s Rugby World Cup (WRWC) uniform packing and distribution operation.

The HS&L Solution

They also have pallet and container storage for boxed stock and/or VM props. Their delivery driver makes multiple daily trips to BV and can coordinate deliveries to store and collections back to the client’s own POD.

HS&L, a long-term sponsor of Banbury RFC with sister company Jamie Brigs Removals, stepped forward to provide the essential infrastructure needed to execute this high-volume logistical task.

  • Donation: HS&L provided the use of its warehouse facility as a central hub for the operation.
  • Support: The company offered necessary logistical support and space that enabled club volunteers to successfully pack and distribute volunteer kits for the WRWC over the required weekend.

This direct contribution allowed the club to complete its volunteer commitment and secure the necessary funding for its development project.

Strategic Investment & Impact

The funds earned were immediately ringfenced and invested into a high-impact infrastructure project:

Project Focus: Dedicated Female Changing Facility

The entire sum was dedicated to converting an existing changing room into a dedicated, custom-designed female changing facility, specified and planned by the women’s and girls’ teams themselves.

Why This Investment Matters:

This is not merely an upgrade; it is a strategic investment supporting the long-term retention and recruitment of female players.

  • Equity & Comfort: The new facility ensures equal, dedicated space for women and girls, moving away from temporary solutions and fostering greater comfort and privacy.
  • National Benchmark: This facility positions Banbury RFC as one of the very few clubs in Oxfordshire, and potentially the country, to offer such a fully bespoke and dedicated space for its female players.

Quote from the Club: “We are thrilled that the women and girls at our club will have a bespoke changing room, planned and delivered by themselves. This is a direct result of the inclusive ethos shared by the club and our partners, Hanger Storage & Logistics.”

— Julie Briggs, Banbury RFC Girls’ Coordinator

Results: Fuelling Future Growth

The partnership between Hanger Storage & Logistics and Banbury RFC has yielded demonstrable results:

  • Player Retention: The investment provides a professional and welcoming environment, which is crucial for retaining current female players.
  • Recruitment Drive: The club is seeing rapid growth in female participation, a trend that is expected to accelerate with the introduction of this facility and the recent appointment of World Cup player Caity Maddison as the club’s Schools Manager.
  • Community Recognition: HS&L’s support successfully enabled the club to execute a high-profile, successful community initiative, demonstrating a clear commitment to grassroots sport development and gender equity.

Hanger Storage & Logistics is proud to support the development of facilities that champion inclusion and empower the next generation of female rugby players.

Hanger Storage & Logistics tailor the racking in PODs to suit all styles and types of clothing and accessories, in addition they provide broadband/line rental so it can be used to accept deliveries and transfers.
